Welcome to Paint Night 2.0!
How many times have we seen photos from paint night: Big smiling faces, proud sense of accomplishment, and 14 identical, garish, and ugly paintings that will live on the kitchen counter for a few weeks and then find their way to the basement or the trash
How would it be if you could have all the joy and camaraderie of paint night, but create something that was unique, held meaning for you, and was something you would treasure and enjoy for years? Welcome to Paint Night 2.0.
My name is Debbie Mueller. After 30 years of practicing medicine, and strongly identifying as artistically challenged, I accidentally discovered painting and it changed my life. Just two years later, I am selling my work, exhibiting in galleries and winning awards for my oil paintings. I am so excited to spread my message that painting is something that can be learned by anyone and can be a path to extraordinary experiences, personal satisfaction, and enormous joy.
A good painting needs a few things- a good design, an accurate drawing, and a value (light and dark) structure. I’m going to help you to create a successful painting.
Step 1- Invite a group of friends to your home for an evening. 6-8 people is ideal. Prepare a place where we can work- your dining room table covered with an inexpensive plastic table cloth is perfect. Please supply some neat snacks and something to drink.
Step 2-Choose a photo to paint, and email it to me. Maybe it shows your favorite vacation spot, your current or childhood home, a landmark in a city you love, or a treasured pet. (Let’s stay away from portraits in the beginning!). Please choose something that’s not too detailed. Send me your photo for my feedback. I will let you know if I have any concerns about how it will work.
Step 3- I will sketch your design on a canvas panel to have ready for you when we paint. An inaccurate drawing will sink a painting, and the whole point is to have a successful result. Taking time during Paint Night to make an accurate drawing would not leave enough time to paint.
Step 4- Save a copy of your image on your phone, iPad or laptop to use for reference when we paint. Now, make a copy of your image and save it as a black and white image. Make sure you bring your printed photos (the color and black and white versions) or bring your phone/iPad to use as reference on Paint Night.
Step 5- Come to Paint Night ready to relax, have fun, learn a bit, and create a masterpiece. I will provide everything you need to create your painting. You never know, the experience might change your life too!
Paint night has a $30 per person charge. The price for the host is discounted 50%.
